MSc Nanomedicine

Swansea University

Course overview

The MSc Nanomedicine course is designed for students who already have a science degree, such as one in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, or pharmacology. This course looks at the newest progress in nanotechnology (working with very small things) and how it can be used in healthcare. Key topics include creating new drugs, advanced ways to deliver medicine, disease diagnostics, and regenerative medicine. As part of the degree, students must complete a research project in a laboratory that covers many scientific areas.

Students will be taught by leading experts in the Institute of Life Science, which has a £22 million investment in the Centre for Nanohealth. Their studies cover general evidence-based practices and specialist topics, such as nano(geno)toxicology and legal rules for the field. The course will prepare students for further research, including a PhD, or for jobs in drug and biotechnology companies. They will be assessed in different ways, including written assignments, presentations, laboratory reports, and a major research project and dissertation.
