This Applied Psychology degree is a science-based course that focuses on how the brain and human behaviour work, teaching students about how people relate to the world around them. In the first two years, students study the general BA (Hons) Applied Social Sciences course, which gives students a good start in subjects like psychology, sociology, and research skills. In the third and fourth years, students move to focus only on psychology. Students will study real-life problems and finish a main research project (dissertation) on a topic of their choice.
The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), which means graduates who meet all requirements will be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC). This accreditation is key if they plan to move on to postgraduate study to become a Chartered Psychologist. Learning takes place through lectures, seminars, and practical work, and students will have high contact time with friendly, research-active staff.
