FdA Football Development and Coaching

Course Overview

The FdA Football Development and Coaching at Middlesex University is a two-year degree that prepares students for careers in football coaching, development, and administration. It combines academic study with practical involvement, covering modules such as coaching theory, sport science, player welfare, and community football projects. Accreditation includes the FA Introduction to Coaching and FA UEFA C Licence.

Students will engage in theory classes, practical coaching sessions, placements, and project work. Middlesex’s strong club links and academic facilities ensure hands-on learning. The programme helps students build confidence in planning and delivering coaching sessions, analysing performance, and ensuring safe practice with players.

Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, group work, practical coaching labs, and placements. Assessment is based on coursework, practical tasks, presentations, project portfolios, and performance evaluations in real coaching environments. Regular feedback helps students continually develop their skills.
