MEng Mechanical Engineering

The MEng in Mechanical Engineering at London South Bank University (LSBU) is a professionally accredited, integrated master’s programme that builds a strong foundation in core engineering principles, while offering practical experience in design, analysis, and real-world problem-solving. This four-year integrated programme combines undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. In the first two years, students focus on fundamental areas including solid mechanics, dynamics, materials science, and energy systems. In the later years, the curriculum advances into automation, robotics, finite element analysis (FEA), and a substantial independent research project.

Teaching is delivered through lectures, tutorials, workshops, and laboratory sessions. Assessment includes coursework, group projects, presentations, laboratory reports, and examinations. In the final year, students complete an independent research or design project to demonstrate their expertise.

Grade Requirements:

• A-levels: BBB, including Mathematics and preferably Physics or another science subject.
• BTEC: Extended Diploma in Engineering with Distinction, Merit (DMM), including Further Mathematics units.
• International Baccalaureate: Minimum of 27 points, with Higher Level Mathematics.

English Proficiency:

• IELTS: Overall score of 6.0, with no component below 5.5.
• Equivalent alternatives such as TOEFL or PTE are accepted.

For the 2025/26 academic year, international students are required to pay £15,500 per year in tuition fees. Fees are reviewed annually and subject to change.

Every year, London South Bank University provides a range of scholarships to qualified students to help with their education. These include the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement and the International Merit Scholarships, which grant up to £4,000.
