MSc Forensic Bioscience

Course Overview

This master's degree is for students who work in forensic science or have a science degree. It gives them access to modern labs, mock crime scenes, and a courtroom for practice. Experts like forensic anthropologists and biologists teach the course, the course focuses on topics such as how bodies decay, insect studies, microbes, tissue science, and DNA analysis.

 

Students will also learn about the criminal justice system and how forensic scientists fit into it. They will learn to use the right techniques for difficult cases and check how well current crime scene methods work. The course is approved by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences and is designed to improve students' knowledge and hands-on skills through a demanding and interesting programme.

Entry Requirements for Nepalese Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement explaining their reasons for applying to the course and any other relevant information about their academic background. A reference from a teacher or employer is also required. Students can upload their CV to show any work experience they have.

 

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants require a minimum 2:2 honours degree in a relevant science field, including forensic science.
  • Alternatively, a different degree may be acceptable if the student has enough relevant work experience in the field.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score 6.5 overall in IELTS (with a minimum of 5.5 in each section) or submit equivalent test scores.

Cost of Study

The international tuition fee for the MSc Forensic Bioscience programme is £18,250 per year.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available, including the GREAT Scholarships, which are each worth £10,000 for the 2025-26 academic year. Students can also apply for the International Achievement Scholarship. More information can be found on the university's official website.
