BSc Biology with Foundation Year
Course overview
The BSc Biology with Foundation Year at Liverpool John Moores University is a great way for students to start their journey in the study of biology. The first year, called the Foundation Year, is designed to give students a solid grounding in the subject. They will learn about core topics like genetics, microbiology, and ecology, which help them explore different areas and find what interests them most. The programme is recognised by the Royal Society of Biology.
After the foundation year, students can either keep their studies broad or choose to focus on specific areas. They will have a choice of modules, including things like immunology, marine biology, and neuroscience. The course combines exams and coursework for assessments, such as practical reports, presentations, and group work, which helps to check students' knowledge and skills in different ways. Students also get a chance to do a work placement to gain real-world experience.
