BA Professional Practice: Early Childhood Studies Top-Up

Professional Practice: Early Childhood Studies (Top-Up) is a full-time undergraduate top-up degree that runs for one year. It helps students gain understanding by looking at present-day challenges in child care, education, health, and family welfare. The programme requires a student to work in a related job for at least two days a week while studying.

The course is structured to be taught in three phases: Preparation (pre-recorded materials), Live (interactive, in-person sessions), and Post (follow-up activities). This is called a blended learning approach with an assessment approach that allows students to show their abilities in different ways.

The programme will develop a student's skills in areas such as child advocacy, holistic development, child protection, professional development, child support and wellness, partnering with parents, and inclusive practice. Students will earn double certification after the programme, a BA (Hons) Professional Practice: Early Childhood Studies degree and an Early Childhood Graduate Practitioner Certificate (ECGPC).

Leeds Trinity University is located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England and has a Roman Catholic heritage and is a member of the Cathedrals Group, an association of UK universities with Christian foundations.  It was founded in 1966 as two teacher training colleges; it has expanded to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, such as health and social sciences, business, and education. 

The university has two campuses, the main campus in Horsforth and a city campus in central Leeds. Candidates need the support of their employer and a written reference that confirms their DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check has been completed 

Grade Requirements: 

• Candidates should have a Foundation degree or Level 5 qualification in a related subject.

English Proficiency: 

• Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS test, with no score below 5.5.
• TOEFL is also an accepted test score.

For the academic year 2025/26, the tuition fee for the BA Professional Practice: Early Childhood Studies (Top-Up) programme at Leeds Trinity University is £12,000.
