MSc Diagnostic Radiography Pre-registration

The MSc Diagnostic Radiography (Pre-registration) at Glasgow Caledonian University is designed to produce highly skilled radiographers with expert skills in various imaging technologies. It trains the students to be proficient in creating and interpreting images of the human body. Graduates are eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The course covers anatomy and physiology for radiographers, pattern recognition, radiographic principles, interprofessional working, and research methods, and prepares the students for professional practice. Optional modules include a focus on computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or ultrasound practice and leadership in health care.

The teaching methods include keynote lectures, clinical workshops, tutorials, student-led seminars, and group discussions, with assessments comprising coursework, clinical observations, oral exams, reflective reports and a dissertation project to develop research skills. Practical learning is through simulated labs and over 1,000 hours of clinical placement across NHS and specialist sites.

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is a public university located in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland and also has campuses in London and New York. All applicants should provide a personal statement of suitability, which should offer clear evidence of their understanding of Diagnostic Radiography and how it differs from other health and social care professions, including details of contact with diagnostic radiographers. Grade Requirements: 

• Applicants should have a recent (within the last five years) first-class or upper second-class honours degree in any discipline.
• International equivalent, such as a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above, is also considered
• Applicants should also demonstrate knowledge of the research process and research methods.

English Proficiency:

• Applicants who do not speak English as their first language require an overall IELTS score of 7.0, with a minimum  6.5 in each component.
• Accepted alternatives include PTE or TOEFL iBT.

The tuition fee for this programme is £19,300 per year for international students in the 2025/26 academic year. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and may change.

Glasgow Caledonian University offers scholarships to international students to support them financially. Scholarships such as the GREAT scholarships, worth £10,000 towards tuition fees,  the Postgraduate Ambassador Scholarship, and the Chancellor Yunus Scholarship are available to students who satisfy the eligibility criteria.
