BA Interior Architecture

Course Overview

Interior Architects change, redesign, and reuse existing buildings to create useful, interesting, and easy-to-use spaces for people. The course focuses on human needs to make the quality of these environments better for the people inside them. This programme is part of the larger Architecture department, which means students can work with other design students and learn from studies into sustainable design.

The course focuses on changing and improving existing spaces by putting people's needs first, with a lot of attention given to sustainability. Learning mostly happens in the studio and involves using both old-style drawing and new digital software to create detailed designs. Students' final grade is judged equally on three main parts: their Skills (what they can actually do), Context (their understanding of theory and history), and Ideas (their creative thinking).
