MSc Mental Health Nursing

Course Overview

The MSc programme is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to become competent and compassionate registered mental health nurses. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates are eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and practice as a registered mental health nurse in the UK.

The programme employs a problem-based learning(PBL) approach, where students work individually or in groups to solve problems and develop their knowledge and skills. It combines a variety of teaching methods including lectures, seminars, simulations, clinical supervision and extensive placements. 

Students are assessed through a diverse range of methods such as multiple choice exams, written assignments, portfolios, case studies, group presentations and dissertations.

Entry Requirements

Your application must include a personal statement explaining your interest in the course, a reference form from an academic or employer, and a comprehensive CV to highlight your relevant work experience

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicant will hold a bachelor's degree with honours at a 2:1 in any subject or 2:2 in a health-related subject, such as biological sciences, psychology or public health.
  • You must hold Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds must obtain a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no less than 5.5 in each component.· 
  • Equivalent test scores, such as TOEFL or PTE, are also accepted·

Cost of Study

International students enrolled in this programme for the 2025/2026 academic year will pay a tuition fee of £15500.
