Course Overview

The BSc Computing at Canterbury Christ Church University is a hands-on degree that helps you learn the key skills needed to start a career in computing and information technology (IT). This course is a good choice if you want to work in the growing tech industry.

You will study key topics such as computer networks, databases, computer science, and cybersecurity. You will also learn helpful business skills in areas like online business (e-business), user-friendly design (usability), and how to make organisations work better. These are skills that many employers want.

During the course, you will use tools and technologies that professionals use at work. You will also do real-life projects, both on your own and in groups. The course uses a learning method called CDIO. This means you will Conceive (plan), Design, Implement (build), and Operate your own computing projects—just like in a real job.

About University

Canterbury Christ Church University was established in 1962 as a teacher-training college before becoming a full-fledged university in 2005. Around 20,000 students attend CCCU with approximately 16,500 undergraduates and 1,700 postgraduates. 

Canterbury Christ Church University has campuses in both Canterbury and Medway. The Canterbury Campus sits in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It includes a new STEM centre, a creative arts hub, and the Kent & Medway Medical School. The Medway Campus is based in a dockyard setting, shared with the University of Kent. The campuses have modern facilities including high-tech science and arts buildings, award‑winning libraries, media studios, laboratories, sports centres, and student halls. 

CCCU is one of the best in the UK for the proportion of graduates in employment; around 66% of graduates secure high‑level roles within 15 months of graduating.

Entry Requirements

Grade Requirements:

  • To study this course, applicants must have UCAS Tariff points of 112 in qualifications such as A-Levels in BBC, BTEC at DDM, and International Baccalaureate of 29 points. 
  • A combination of qualifications totalling 112 UCAS points is also accepted.  

English Proficiency:

  • International students whose first language is not English are required to show proficiency in English by having an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5. 
  • Equivalent tests such as Pearson PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, and Oxford ELLT are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The 2025/26 annual tuition fee for the BSc Computing at Canterbury Christ Church University is £15,500. Please note that fees are provisional and are, therefore, subject to change.

Scholarships

CCCU offers a number of scholarships and financial aid options to deserving international students to ease their financial burden. The Sanctuary Scholarship is available for those seeking asylum in the UK. Canterbury Christ Church University works in partnership with The Archdeacon of Canterbury (Canterbury Cathedral) under the Article 26 Project to enable those seeking asylum to progress to higher education. Successful applicants for this scholarship will be provided with some financial support.
