BSc Data Science

The BSc (Hons) Data Science degree at Buckinghamshire New University equips students with the skills and knowledge to collect, store, analyse, and present data. The programme balances theory with practical application, which allows students to apply their knowledge to real-world projects and scenarios.

The course is for three years, with options for a foundation year or an industrial placement year, which extends to four years. Teaching is done through lectures, tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions, offering students learning experiences within classroom settings and beyond. This approach allows students to engage with the course material in many ways, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical situations. 

Assessment is done through coursework, which includes written assignments, practical exercises, presentations, and group work, as well as tests and exams. In the final year, students will do a major project that will allow them to research a business problem or topic aligned with their career goals.

Buckinghamshire New University was established in 1891 and gained university status in 2007. It is a forward-thinking university with campuses in High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Uxbridge, and Great Missenden; it serves over 8,000 students. Applicants must submit a personal statement, academic or employer reference, and optionally, a CV to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

• Applicants need a UCAS tariff score of 88 - 112. 
• A minimum of two full A-levels (or equivalent qualifications). 

English Proficiency: 

• Applicants need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no individual component score lower than 5.5. 
• TOEFL and PTE are also accepted.

The tuition fee for the BSc Data Science programme for the Academic Year 2025-2026 is £15,150 per year.

Buckinghamshire New University offers several scholarships for international undergraduate students paying International fees. New self-funded international students may qualify for a scholarship of £1,500 in their first year of study, which may be spread across other years. Also, an early payment fee reduction of £500 is available if the full tuition fee (of £15,000) is paid by August 1, 2025, for the September 2025 session.
