Course overview
On this Economics degree you’ll gain an insight into how economics improves our understanding of how the world functions. By gaining insights into how economics improves our understanding of how the world functions, you will develop valuable analytical, numerical, data analysis and problem-solving skills. This helps you to understand how people, firms, institutions and governments make decisions, and the implications of such decisions on individuals, businesses and society.
Economics is more than a study of the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. It focuses on how people, businesses and governments interact with each other and their surroundings in the face of scarcity or adversity - how choices and decisions impact individuals and society. Governments use economic data to guide their response to pressing issues such as how to reduce public health costs.
Businesses develop strategies on anything from pricing and advertising to investment in product development. For individuals, economics affects which house we can afford or how much we must save for retirement. At Bangor University, you’ll join a close-knit community, making your learning experience more personal.
Keeping course content relevant and interesting, teaching is driven by our world class research in topics ranging from financial economics to regional development. Some of our staff are members of the Welsh Affairs Economic Policy Group and regularly work with policymakers in government, various regulators and think-tanks. Read more Course options
