When should I start preparing my university application?

August – October 2025

Preparation

  • University Research: Start by researching and evaluating universities and the courses they offer. AHZ’s counsellors are available to help and guide you in your search.
  • English Proficiency: Register for your English proficiency test. You can choose between IELTS, PTE Academic, or Duolingo English Test, depending on your chosen university.
  • Drafting Your Personal Statement: Clearly explain your academic objectives, career goals, and long-term plans.
  • Academic Document Gathering: Make sure your SEE and +2 (Class 12) transcripts are ready and properly attested.

How and when do I submit my application?

October 2025 – January 2026

The Application Window

  • Undergraduate (UCAS) Submissions: If you’re applying for an undergraduate degree, you can apply through UCAS.
  • Postgraduate Direct Applications: Postgraduate students apply directly to the university. Counsellors at AHZ can assist you with this process.
  • Recommendation Letters: Request strong Letters of Recommendation (LORs) from professors or employers who know your academic abilities, work ethic, and character.

What happens after I receive a university offer?

February – May 2026

Evaluation & Acceptance

  • Reviewing Offers: During this period, universities assess applications and issue conditional or unconditional offers. Evaluate "Conditional" or "Unconditional" offers with AHZ staff to choose the best fit for your goals.
  • University Spot Assessment Events: AHZ often organises university spot assessment days in Kathmandu, it’s a great opportunity to interact directly with university representatives.
  • Securing Your Seat: Accept your offer, and pay a tuition deposit, generally between £2,000 and £5,000.
  • Requesting your CAS: After the deposit is processed and documentation is verified, the university will issue a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), a mandatory document for the visa application.

What are the UK student visa and financial requirements?

June – August 2026

Visa & Finance

  • The 28-Day Rule: You are to keep your tuition and living expenses in an approved bank account for at least 28 consecutive days in accordance with UK visa regulations.
  • Medical Requirements: You are to complete a tuberculosis screening at the IOM Migration Health Centre in Kathmandu before submitting your visa application.
  • Visa Submission: Once your finances and medical test are sorted, you can apply for your UK Student Visa.
