BSc Nursing Top Up
Course overview
The BSc Nursing (Top-up) at the University of Central Lancashire is an intensive one-year course designed for registered nurses who hold a nursing diploma and wish to achieve a full degree. This programme is structured to support nurses in considering their contribution to local, global, and wider health and social care agendas.
This programme gives you strong academic knowledge and improves your clinical skills, following the required standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK. You will learn important clinical skills, such as the A to E assessment for a patient whose condition is getting worse, how to monitor a patient's heart (cardiac monitoring), and how to manage their breathing (respiratory management). The course is also designed to help nurses share and respect different ways of nursing across various countries and cultures.
You will continuously consider the evidence that supports nursing care. This will enable you to critique how evidence and quality of care influence health and nursing practice both locally and globally. The teaching team includes NMC-registered Nurses and healthcare professionals who have great experience in supporting students. Completing this programme provides you with a full degree, which opens doors to further postgraduate study and professional progression in the UK or internationally.
