BSc Cyber Security

University of Lancashire

Course overview

The BSc Cyber Security at the University of Lancashire is designed for students who are interested in programming, computer networks, and safety, preparing them for a career in a field with high job demand. The course teaches students how to build computer systems that are safe and follow the law. Students will learn to understand attack methods, find weak points in networks and systems, and successfully defend them from hackers.

Learning focuses on hands-on work, including using specialist forensic software (the same kind used by the police) and working in the University’s Laboratory for Security and Forensic Research. Students' performance is assessed through various methods, including the first-year Computing Challenge and a major Honours Degree Project in the final year. This degree is formally approved by the British Computer Society (BCS), which means it completely meets the standards needed for students to become Chartered IT Professionals.
