BEng Fire Engineering with Foundation Year
Course overview
The BEng Fire Engineering (with Foundation Year) at the University of Central Lancashire helps students understand how fire works, how to keep people and buildings safe, and how to design systems that prevent or control fires. The foundation year provides them with the opportunity to build basic skills in maths, science, and engineering before starting the main degree.
Students learn through hands-on work like projects, lab experiments, and computer simulations that show how fire behaves in real situations. Teaching includes lectures, tutorials, labs, workshops, and group work. Assessment is through coursework, reports, projects, exams, and independent study. Graduates can go on to work in fire safety or engineering design or continue studying fire engineering.
