BEng Fire Engineering

University of Lancashire

Course overview

The BEng (Hons) Fire Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire teaches you how to understand, prevent, and manage fire risks in buildings and infrastructure. The programme focuses on real-world application and combines the science of fire with engineering design and safety management.

Teaching is through a mixture of lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and laboratory sessions. You will do practical work in fire-testing labs or take part in simulated fire scenarios, using specialist software and modelling tools.

The course also includes design projects, site visits, and talks from industry experts to show how fire engineering works in real life. Assessment includes exams, coursework, and practical tasks such as lab reports, projects, essays, and presentations. This helps you show what you know and how you can use it in practice.
