MEng Robotic Engineering and Artificial Intelligence

Course Overview

This integrated master’s course is designed for students who want to become experts in building intelligent machines that can learn, adapt, and make decisions. From autonomous vehicles to advanced robotic arms and smart home devices, the MEng Robotic Engineering and Artificial Intelligence course gives you the skills to design, program, and fine-tune robotic systems for the real world. The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), meaning it meets the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

You’ll study a mix of electronics, mechanics, computer science, and AI. The course focuses on hands-on learning, real projects, and tools used in industry, giving you practical experience every step of the way. By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready to solve real engineering challenges and build technology that interacts with and responds to the world around it. You can also take an optional placement year between your third and fourth years, giving you real experience in the workplace and helping you stand out to employers.

You’ll learn through lectures, tutorials, lab work, team projects, and individual assignments. There’s a strong focus on problem-solving and practical application. You’ll spend time working with real robotics kits, simulation software, and control hardware. Assessment is mainly through coursework. This includes practical reports, group projects, programming tasks, and presentations. Some modules include exams, but most of your learning is demonstrated through technical work and applied problem-solving.
