BSc Learning Disabilities Nursing

Course Overview

The BSc Learning Disabilities Nursing at Kingston University prepares you to work with children and adults who have learning disabilities, helping them stay healthy and live more independently. This course is a great choice if you want to support people and improve lives.

You’ll learn in a small group with support from experienced teachers, researchers and healthcare workers. Many of the lecturers have worked in real healthcare settings or helped develop national healthcare policies, so they bring useful experience to the classroom.

Studying BSc Learning Disabilities Nursing at Kingston will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to care for people with a wide range of needs. You’ll learn about the health inequalities many people face and how to improve outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based care.

The course combines classroom teaching, simulation exercises and real placements. You’ll practise your clinical and communication skills in our award-winning simulation suite and work with patients during placements across London. Some students have also had the chance to collaborate with groups such as the Baked Bean Theatre Company or take part in national and international learning opportunities. You’ll graduate as a registered learning disabilities nurse, recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

Entry Requirements for Indian Students

  • Candidates are encouraged to gain some work experience in a care setting before starting the course. 
  • You’ll be invited for an online interview if your initial application is successful.

Grade Requirements:

  • The typical grade requirement for this course is 112-128 UCAS points, preferably with some health and science subjects studied.
  • This could be achieved through qualifications such as A-Levels at BBC; BTEC Extended Diploma at DMM; and an Access to HE course with 21 Distinctions and 18 Merits. 

English Proficiency:

  • International students whose first language is not English are to show proficiency in English by having an IELTS score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/26 academic session, the tuition fee to study the BSc Learning Disabilities Nursing at Kingston University is £18,800. Kindly note that tuition fees increase as you progress in the course.

Scholarships

Kingston University offers a small number of scholarships for international students. The International Scholarship is worth £5,000 towards your first year tuition fees.
