MSc Psychology - Distance Learning

Course Overview

The MSc in Psychology Conversion Course is designed for postgraduates from diverse academic backgrounds. This distance learning programme provides fundamental academic and practical skills essential for careers in psychology, research, and related fields. It covers core areas including cognitive and biological psychology, applied psychology, research methods, and social and developmental psychology, making graduates eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

The course incorporates various interactive online learning methods such as pre-recorded lectures, virtual classrooms, webinars, online quizzes, and discussion forums. Assessments include objective tests, essays, portfolios, practical reports, presentations, and a final research project. Full-time students should expect to dedicate 30-35 hours per week, while part-time students should commit 15-20 hours weekly.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are expected to submit a personal statement discussing their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. An academic or employer reference is also needed, and Students have the option to upload their Curriculum Vitae along with their applications to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need a minimum of a second-class undergraduate degree in a subject other than psychology, or a non-accredited undergraduate degree that includes psychology of 2:1 or above.
  • Applicants with grades lower than a 2:1 may also be considered, with suitability assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Programme Director.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score at least 6.5 overall in IELTS with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in other sections.
  • Applicants can submit equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) scores.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the MSc Psychology for international students is £15,500 per year.
