BEng Mechanical Engineering

This four-year Mechanical Engineering degree includes a Foundation Year to help students build their academic skills and confidence. Students will learn all about mechanical engineering, including how things work and move, heat, materials, liquids, and control systems. Students can choose to focus on exciting areas like aerospace technology, renewable energy, or robotics, giving them skills that are in high demand.

The programme combines classroom learning with hands-on lab work and real-world tasks. Students will work on projects with other students and take part in group talks. Their progress will be checked through assignments, reports, tests, and presentations. They will use modern facilities like a 3D metal printer and a Virtual Reality CAD Lab. There are also chances for work placements and talks from industry experts.

Buckinghamshire New University started in 1891 and became a university in 2007. It aims to teach practical skills for real jobs. It has campuses in High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Uxbridge, and Great Missenden, and over 8,000 students. The university offers many different courses, including those in Nursing, Business, Creative Industries, and Policing, as well as Engineering. It has excellent facilities, like "The Gateway," which has a sports hall, fitness centre, and studios for music and video.

The university strongly supports its students. There's a special International Lounge for international students, English language courses, and help from tutors. You can get advice on money, health, housing, and careers. New international students also get free airport pick-up and an orientation programme to help them settle into studying in the UK.

You need to write a personal statement explaining why you want to study this course and share other useful information about your education. A reference letter from a teacher or an employer is also needed. You can choose to send your CV (a document showing your work history) with your application to show your work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants need a UCAS tariff score between 32 and 56 points, which can come from qualifications like A-levels, T-levels (Merit in Engineering), or BTECs (DDM to DMM, with a Maths Merit). 
• The university considers each application individually, taking into account your statement and any relevant experience.

English Proficiency:

• If English is not your first language, you need to show you can use it well, usually by getting an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (with no part below 5.5) or equivalent scores from TOEFL (at least 79 overall) or PTE Academic (at least 59 overall).
• For international students needing a Student visa, this English test must be approved by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

For the BEng Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Year programme, the yearly tuition fee for International Students is £15,150

Buckinghamshire New University has different ways to help international students with fees. The Vice Chancellor's International Student Scholarship can reduce your fees. If you are an international student paying overseas fees for an undergraduate course, you might get a £1,500 scholarship in your first year. This scholarship can also be spread over three years as you continue your degree. You can also get a £500 discount if you pay your full tuition fees early, by 1 August for the September academic session resumption.
