BSc Public Health

Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Public Health with Foundation Year at Buckinghamshire New University is a four-year course that helps you gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to start a career in public health.

In the first year, you will complete a foundation year, preparing you for the main degree by helping you enhance your academic skills and deepen your understanding of public health. After that, students will study important topics such as health promotion, ethical decision making, health education, safeguarding, research methods, and epidemiology. Students will also learn how government policy, culture, and society can affect the health of individuals and communities, both in the UK and around the world.

The BSc Public Health with Foundation Year at Buckinghamshire New University follows the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework. 

You’ll also have the chance to work closely with your tutors and meet professionals in the public health field. In your final year, you will complete a research project (dissertation) on a topic that interests you, with support from your tutor.

About University

Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) started in 1891 as the School of Science and Art. Over time, it changed and expanded, offering more courses and growing in size. In 1999, it became a university college, and in 2007, it became a full university with the name Buckinghamshire New University.

The main campus is in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. The campus has many modern and useful facilities for students, including workspaces for Art and Design, an Aviation Simulator, a Gym, and studios for Film and TV. Students can also use a library that is open 24 hours a day, visit the Students’ Union, and enjoy different shops and cafes on site.

BNU provides student accommodation in High Wycombe, with options such as single rooms or rooms with private bathrooms (en-suite). The university also runs a free shuttle bus that takes students and staff between the High Wycombe and Uxbridge campuses.

Entry Requirements for Indian Students

Grade Requirements:

  • To qualify for this course, applicants should have a UCAS tariff score of 32-56. This can be achieved through qualifications such as A levels, T levels, BTEC or an Access to Higher Education course in a relevant subject.
  • You're required to list all your qualifications on the application form, as you will be asked to provide copies when your application has been received.

English Proficiency:

  • International students whose first language is not English are to have an IELTS score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each skill area. Equivalent tests are accepted. 
  • Please note that tests must be taken at least 2 years before the commencement of the programme. 

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee to study this course at Buckinghamshire New University is £15,150. Please note that fees are provisional and are, therefore, subject to change.

Scholarships

BNU is dedicated to providing financial support to international students to ease their burden. For instance, the Vice Chancellor’s International Student Scholarship offers up to £1,500 towards a reduction in tuition fees. To be eligible, applicants must hold an offer from Buckinghamshire New University for a full-time taught degree programme.
