BEng Engineering Design

The Buckinghamshire New University BEng Engineering Design programme is structured to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for solving complex engineering challenges. The curriculum places strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and emerging technologies, equipping graduates with valuable industry insights sought after by employers. This course also offers a considerable engagement with industry professionals through guest lectures, workshops, live briefs, and site visits, ensuring relevance to current industry needs. 

The programme is available as a three-year full-time course, a four-year course with an optional placement year, or a four/five-year option including a foundation year. Core modules cover essential areas such as engineering design, materials, processes, mechanics, virtual engineering, and thermofluids. Students gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art facilities, including various engineering laboratories, and participate in project-based learning to simulate a professional workplace environment.

Individuals seeking admission are required to submit a personal statement, and an appropriate academic and/or employer reference is also a necessary component of the application. Applicants also have the option to include their CV to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

• Applicants generally need a UCAS tariff score ranging from 100 to 128, including A levels, T levels, BTEC, or an Access to Higher Education diploma. 
• The university also accepts international qualifications that are recognised as equivalent to UK A-levels.

English Proficiency: 

• If applicants' primary language is not English, they need an overall score of 6.0 in IELTS, with no component score below 5.5. Other equivalent test scores, including PTE and TOEFL, are also accepted.

For international students, the annual tuition fee for the BEng Engineering Design programme at Buckinghamshire New University is £15,150.

Buckinghamshire New University offers a good number of scholarships and bursaries to assist undergraduate students in achieving their full potential. These include the BNU Learning Resource Fund, which provides £150 for study materials, and the Thrive Bursary, awarding £500 to eligible UK students based on household income or deprivation criteria. Additionally, specialised bursaries offer £1,100 plus accommodation for care leavers, estranged students, and those from Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showman, and Boater (GTRSB) backgrounds. The university also provides emergency aid, a hardship fund, and guidance on external support.
