BA Sports Coaching with Physical Education

Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Sports Coaching with Physical Education with Foundation Year is a four-year undergraduate programme designed for students who may not meet the direct entry requirements for the three-year degree, or who would benefit from additional academic preparation. The course includes an extra year at the start, known as the foundation year or "Year 0", which teaches core academic skills, writing abilities, and basic subject knowledge to build a strong foundation before moving on to the main three-year degree program.

This extra year helps students develop the skills and knowledge needed for successful degree-level study. After completing the Foundation Year, students join the three-year BA Sports Coaching with Physical Education degree, which focuses on promoting physical activity and sport.

The course covers topics like the school PE curriculum, teaching styles, sports psychology, and performance analysis, combining theoretical learning with practical sessions and work experience in local schools and sports organisations.
