BSc Mental Health Nursing

Course Overview

The Kingston University BSc Mental Health Nursing programme leads to registration as a mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and its curriculum includes core subjects for all fields of nursing, as well as specialised modules focusing on mental health. Students in this course will learn from a team of experienced nurses, lecturers, and researchers, with a focus on working collaboratively with service users, their relatives, and carers to promote recovery.

Learning involves hands-on experience through clinical placements, simulated learning in labs, and classroom teaching, and students will develop skills, knowledge, and values needed to deliver effective care in various settings. The course also includes opportunities to learn from people with first-hand experience of mental health challenges through partnerships with organisations like the Recovery College.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Applicants applying for this course need to submit a personal statement, a relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required, and their CV, along with their application, to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need to have a minimum of 120-136 UCAS points from A Levels at grades BBB, BTEC with grades DDM, or an Access to HE Diploma in a related subject.
  • The university also accepts international qualifications that are equivalent to A-Levels.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds must score 6.0 overall in the IELTS, with a minimum of 5.5 in all four components or equivalents like TOEFL and PTE.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/26 academic year, the tuition fee for international students, the fee is £18,800 for Year 1.

Scholarships

Students on this course may be eligible for a £5,000 non-repayable NHS Training Grant each year. Additional support for exceptional hardship, travel, and accommodation during clinical placements may also be available from the NHS Business Service Authority.
