BEng Electronic Engineering

Course Overview

The BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering course at Birmingham City University teaches you how to design and build electronic systems. These systems are found in many everyday technologies, like mobile phones and renewable energy sources. The course covers analogue and digital electronics, embedded systems, power engineering, and communication systems, syncing classroom learning with practical application.

Students gain practical experience in modern laboratories, using advanced equipment such as electric vehicle (EV) test rigs and prototyping tools. The course provides industry placements, which help students build valuable experience and enhance their career prospects.

Teaching is project-based, with learning delivered through workshops, labs, and team projects rather than lectures. Assessments include coursework, design portfolios, lab reports, presentations, and examinations.
