LLM International Law

University of Sussex

Course overview

The LLM in International Law at the University of Sussex presents international law from both a theoretical and practical viewpoint. Students explore how states, International organisations, non-governmental organisations, and other actors interact, and study key regimes such as human rights law, international criminal law, environmental law, and investment law.

In terms of learning and assessment, students will develop skills in legal research, drafting, and critical analysis, exploring modules that include Women and Human Rights, International Economic Law Clinic, and Governance of the Global Digital Economy. There are opportunities for practical exercises such as ‘Model UN’ and international mooting, as well as practitioner engagement through courts and tribunals, and the Sussex Law School arranges an annual study visit to The Hague.
