BA Photography, Video and Digital Imaging

Course Overview

This undergraduate degree prepares students with the skills required for today's photographic industries. The curriculum covers a range of skills, from traditional and digital image creation to video production. Students will learn in professional studios, darkrooms, and digital production suites at the Northern Centre of Photography.

The course is structured to allow students to explore different approaches and styles of photography and moving image. Students will have opportunities to experiment, present their ideas, and test their work in practical situations. The programme also has strong connections with the North East Photography Network.

About University

The University of Sunderland is a well-known institution with a long history of offering higher education. It has many undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including the BA Photography, Video and Digital Imaging programme. The university provides degrees in areas such as Medicine, Law, Engineering, Business, and the Arts.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Candidates are required to provide a personal statement outlining their reasons for applying and other relevant information about their academic history. An academic and/or employer reference is also necessary. Students have the option to upload their CV to demonstrate any work experience they have.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants from the UK/EU need a total of 96–112 UCAS points. This can be achieved through A-levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma, or a Scottish Higher qualification.
  • Different qualifications, such as an Access to HE Diploma, may also be accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to submit an IELTS score of 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each section) or an equivalent Secure English Language Test (SELT) score.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for international students is £16,500 per year. The part-time tuition fee is £7,145 per 90 credits.

Scholarships

The University of Sunderland provides scholarships for its international students. The Global Leaders Scholarship offers a significant tuition fee reduction of £5,000 for eligible international undergraduates. This scholarship is automatically applied to their offer letter if they are eligible. For international students interested in a postgraduate degree, there are other options available. The Tuk-Tam Scholarship is for students from Bulgaria and can provide up to £9,000, while the Commonwealth Master's Scholarships and Chevening Scholarships are prestigious awards that offer funding, including tuition and living expenses, for students from eligible countries.
