MEng Chemical Engineering

The MEng Chemical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is a five-year full-time or part-time course through distance learning. The course gives students both a degree and a master’s degree. The programme equips students with skills in process design, control, project engineering, and reaction engineering, among others. The course is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers and has a high employability rate.

MEng Chemical Engineering is taught through lectures, workshops, lab work, guest lectures from experts, individual and group presentations, and research. Assessment methods include formal exams, mid-term class tests, online quizzes, written coursework, research projects, and design and project reports.

International applicants need to submit their academic transcripts or certificates of previous qualifications. They also need to submit a personal statement and proof of English language ability.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants must have an A in Maths and three other subjects, and at least a B in Chemistry from high school or secondary school (known as Highers in Scotland). This is the standard qualification needed.
• The minimum requirement is a B in Maths and Chemistry, with A's and B's in other subjects.
• International students who do not meet the grade requirements can apply for Undergraduate Foundation Programmes or International Year Two.

English Proficiency:

• International applicants from non-English speaking countries must show proof of English ability with an IELTS score of at least 6.0.
• Those who do not meet the English requirements can take the Pre-sessional Academic English and Study Skills or British Council UK Pre-Sessional (Off-Campus).

The tuition fee for international students studying MEng Chemical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde is £29,350. This fee can be changed every year by the university.

The University of Strathclyde has different scholarships and funding for international students. Some of these funds can cover a part of the tuition fee, living costs, or study equipment, etc. Some of these funds include the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship (10% tuition discount) and the Strathclyde Excellence Scholarship (£1,000/year), Emergency Aid Fund (living and travel costs), and the Lady Eileen McDonald EU & International Student Fund (Equipment and study,  living, and travel costs).
