BSc Psychology Counselling

The BSc Hons Psychology and Counselling at the University of Strathclyde helps students understand how people think, feel, and act, plus the skills needed to support others through counselling. Students learn psychological theories and practice counselling methods. They study how the mind works, mental health, behaviour, and also how to listen and help people talk through problems.

Classes use lectures, workshops, seminars, and role-play sessions to teach both theory and counselling practice. Students will do group work, case studies, and real or simulated counselling sessions. Assessment includes essays, written exams, reports, presentations, and evaluation of counselling practice.

The University of Strathclyde is based in the centre of Glasgow, one of Scotland’s largest cities. Grade Requirements:

• Applicants need good high school qualifications (Scottish Highers, A-Levels or equivalent) in subjects such as psychology, biology, or social sciences.
• Some experience in counselling or psychology is helpful.

English Proficiency:

• For international students, English language proficiency is required, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no component lower than 5.5.
