BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology

Course Overview

The BSc Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of Portsmouth teaches students how mental processes affect performance in sport and physical activity. Students study psychology topics such as motivation, stress management, mental skills training and behaviour change. Practical workshops, lab sessions, and supervised projects provide practical experience in applying psychological theory.

Students are assessed by essays, reports, practical assessments and a final year research project and also use specialist facilities such as the psychophysiology lab, eye‑tracking equipment and thermal cameras to gather data and evaluate performance.

The course prepares you for further professional training or work in sport psychology, coaching, health promotion and performance support roles and is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), and all teaching staff are Chartered BPS psychologists.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students
