MSc Applied Positive Psychology MAPP
Course overview
The MSc Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at the University of East London (UEL) is one of the oldest and most established Master's degrees of its kind in Europe. This programme explores the science of wellbeing and human flourishing.
Positive Psychology challenges the traditional 'disease model' in psychology by encouraging empirical research into factors that enable individuals and communities to thrive and build the best in life. This course is highly relevant today, focusing on wellbeing, resilience, and meaning amid current societal and economic challenges.
The programme starts with a good introduction to the subject and finishes with you completing your own big research project. You can choose to become an expert in areas such as coaching, helping workplaces, consulting with businesses, or improving relationships. If a student's interests are broader, they can choose the standard MAPP option and select their own modules. Practical skills are built throughout the studies using hands-on learning.
Students are assessed in various ways to check their skills and understanding. Depending on the subjects you choose, assessments include writing essays, creating professional portfolios, working on a consultancy project for an external company, writing reports, and completing a significant research project.
