Course overview

The BSc Medical Physiology (with Foundation Year) at the University of East London (UEL) is a four-year undergraduate degree (including the foundation year) that helps students who may not yet have strong enough science qualifications to enter the full degree. The course focuses on how the human body functions in health and disease. Students study anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, and pharmacology.

In the foundation year, students build foundational knowledge in biology, chemistry, and mathematics, as well as academic skills. In the final year, students focus on clinical physiology, applied physiology, research project work, and optional modules such as toxicology or exercise physiology. A placement is offered as an optional extra year.

Students learn through lectures, seminars, lab practicals, group work, external visits, and sometimes short placements.
