LLB Law Scots
Course overview
The LLB Law (Scots) at the University of Dundee helps students pursue training as an advocate or a solicitor after studying Scots law. In your third and fourth years, you have a variety of possibilities to choose from. The Faculty of Advocates and the Law Society of Scotland, which oversee the profession in Scotland, both accept this course. Many LLB Scots Law students decide to enroll in our Dual Qualifying programme. After that, you can become eligible to practice law in Northern Ireland, Wales, or England.
Students will enjoy encouraging and supportive teaching, with a strong emphasis placed on group teaching by qualified lawyers. Teaching is done by lectures, tutorials, and independent and group study. Students will work more independently and take part in seminar discussions. In the final year, students will work on their dissertation, which is independent but supervised, on an elective topic. Assessment methods include presentations, moots, essay or drafting exercises, and tests on comprehension and interpretation of legal sources such as Acts of Parliament or case reports.
