Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Marketing, PR and Advertising at the University of Derby is designed to give you a strong foundation in marketing strategy, branding, and communication. You’ll explore how businesses use marketing, PR, and advertising to engage audiences, build brand identity, and drive success.

This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), meaning you can gain exemptions towards the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing by selecting specific modules. This will enhance your credibility as a marketer.

About University

The University of Derby started as a Diocesan Institute for teacher training in 1851.  It achieved university status in 1992 and since then has been known for its special teaching and strong emphasis on practical experience.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course, applicants must meet the following academic entry requirements:

Grade Requirements

  • Applicants need three A-Level subjects with grades B, B, and B or B, B, and C. 
  • UCAS tariff points of 112. 
  • Pass Access to HE Diploma with 60 credits: 45 at Level 3 with a minimum of Distinction: 15, Merit:24, Pass: 6. 

English Proficiency

For international students whose first language isn't English, proof of proficiency needs to be provided. An IELTS score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each skills area is required.

Cost of Study

For UK students, the annual tuition fee to study BA Marketing, PR and Advertising at the University of Derby is £9,535. For international students, it is £16,900.

Scholarships

The University of Derby offers a variety of scholarships and financial support options for international students. One of the key scholarships is the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, which provides a £2,000 reduction on first-year tuition fees. Additionally, through a partnership with the British Council, the GREAT Scholarship awards £10,000 to eligible Indian students enrolling in a one-year postgraduate course starting in September 2025.

Postgraduate students can also apply for the Chevening Scholarship, which fully covers tuition fees, accommodation, and flights. International students may further benefit from Sports Scholarships and various tuition fee discounts, including full payment discounts and the international alumni discount, which can be combined with other scholarship opportunities.
