BSc Computer Science
Course overview
The BSc Computer Science at the University of Bradford trains students to design and build software and computer systems. Students learn programming, web development, databases, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning. The course aims to give broad technical skills that fit many roles in software, data, IT, or tech-driven businesses. The programme runs 3 years full-time. There is also a 4-year option that includes a placement (work placement) or a year abroad. In this course, students study core topics such as object-oriented programming, web development, databases, AI, and machine learning.
Students learn how to plan software, write code in known languages, build web tools, handle datasets, and test programs. Studies also cover AI and machine learning. The final year has a large project that shows skill in research and design. Students are taught using lectures, lab sessions, tutorials, seminars, and practical work. Some modules involve group work and projects for real clients or partners. Assessment uses coursework, lab tests, exams, and a final year project or dissertation. If a student does a placement route, the work year typically happens before the final year. That gives real-world experience in industry.
