University of Bedfordshire

Course overview

The BSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Bedfordshire is an undergraduate programme that trains students to help people recover and improve their body movement and function after injury or illness. The course deals more with the manual treatment of body pains and injuries through massage or deep heat rather than drugs or surgery.

In this programme, students will focus more on the practical aspect, where they will learn the best ways to get results from massage and exercise while working with individuals with rheumatism or muscle strains to ensure they gain balance and avoid problems relating to the bones. They will also learn to assess and diagnose patients to ascertain their conditions and know which treatment method is best, provide hands-on treatment, manage pain, and offer education and consultancy.

Learning in this course is through practicals, lectures, group discussions, field visits, conferences, and access to specialist clinical practitioners. Assessment methods include presentations, assignments, examinations, formative essays, and a final-year project.
