BSc Food and Nutrition Science

Course Overview

The BSc Food and Nutrition Science course is for students who want to become skilled food scientists. They will learn about food production, nutrition, and health. The course also covers subjects like microbiology, biochemistry, and chemistry, with a strong focus on research and hands-on skills. Please note that this course is only accepting applications for entry in 2027.

Throughout the course, students' skills will be tested in different ways that get harder over time. This includes taking exams and writing reports, and assignments based on their lab work. In their final year, they will complete their own research project. All of their learning is supported by the expertise of the teaching staff.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying to the course and provide other relevant information about their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • This course requires 104 UCAS tariff points from A-levels or an equivalent qualification.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no less than 5.5 in each section.
  • Equivalent test scores such as TOEFL or PTE are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For international students, the fee for now is £16,800 per year.

Scholarships

The university offers a variety of scholarships to assist with study costs. These include the Excellence Scholarship (£2,500 per year) and the Achievement Scholarship (£500 per year) for UK students who meet specific UCAS tariff point requirements. A range of other scholarships and financial support options is also available.
