Overview
The BA Interior Design course shapes students into professional, creative designers by equipping them with the necessary skills. Students will learn the design process, architectural drawing, interior decorative arts, and trend forecasting. They will work in a studio with high-quality Computer Aided Design (CAD) and workshop facilities.
This programme includes a work placement year using this as an opportunity to practice and gain real work experience. The course is accredited by the Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID) and recognised as a SBID National Centre of Excellence.
Students will be taught through practical, project-based work, simulating professional practice, live client projects and national competitions. Assessment involves coursework such as design assignments, projects, essays, and portfolios and less formal examinations.
Entry Requirements
Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference and CVs to show their work experience.
Grade Requirements:
- Candidates need 96–112 UCAS Tariff points, including A-level or equivalent in a creative subject.
- Other International qualifications equivalent to A-levels are also accepted.
- Candidates who do not meet the requirements with work experience may be considered.
English Proficiency:
- Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.0 in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
- PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.
Cost of Study
The international students’ tuition fee for the BA Interior Design programme at Teesside University is £17,000. Note that this is subject to change yearly.
Scholarships
The University College Birmingham will offer you several financial support options for postgraduate students. Students who previously studied at the University might get a discount of 25% for those with a First-class Honours degree and 20% for others. There is also the Master's Academic Excellence Scholarship, for up to £1,000, given based on academic performance. Lastly, UCB graduates can apply for the Alumni Scholarship when pursuing further studies.
