Entry Requirements
Grade Requirements:
- Applicants for a PhD must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2:1 level and a master’s degree with a minimum overall grade at ‘Merit’.
- Alternatively, applicants with a first class honours degree not holding a master’s degree, will be considered on an individual basis.
English Proficiency:
- Applicants whose first language isn't English are required to demonstrate proficiency in the language by possessing an IELTS score of 6.5 with no component below 6.5.
- Recognised equivalents are also accepted.
Cost of Study
For candidates starting in July 2025, the tuition fee to study a PhD in Business Management at Swansea University is £18,500. For those starting in 2026, the tuition fee is £19,050.
Scholarships
Swansea University offers a number of scholarship opportunities for students pursuing PhD, MPhil, MRes or Master's by Research studies in the university.
The Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship(SUIPRES) is a competitively awarded scholarship scheme open to overseas PhD and Professional Doctorate applicants, who are eligible for the international rate of tuition fees and can demonstrate excellence in academic achievement.
The SUIPRES Scholarship covers the difference between the International and the Home tuition fee rate for the duration of the PhD/Professional Doctorate programme.
