MSc Real Estate
Course overview
The MSc Real Estate at Sheffield Hallam University can be completed in one year if studied full-time. The course is held at the City Campus and aims to prepare students to meet the professional and ethical standards set by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Students will learn about key topics such as economics in relation to the built environment, property law, valuation, building assessments, and management of corporate real estate.
Throughout the programme, students utilise various technologies, including a virtual learning environment and specialised software, to enhance their studies. Some of the core modules they interact with cover important subjects such as the Applied International Project, Corporate Real Estate Asset Management, Evaluating Building Condition, and Property Law & Professional Context.
A significant part of the programme is the dissertation, which is a detailed research project that encourages students to critically analyse and evaluate real estate practices and theories. Students receive support from a dedicated supervisor and learn through a mix of lectures, seminars, presentations, group projects, site visits, and assessments.
