MSc Psychology

Course Overview

The MSc Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University is a full-time course studied for one year. It allows students who did not study it at the degree level but wish to switch to Psychology, and for students who have. It is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).

The programme will give students who do not have a background in the subject the core knowledge and scientific understanding of psychology. It will provide students with the foundation they need for further training to become a chartered psychologist.

Students learn in a flexible way by attending classes only once a week on campus, with online classes, workshops and independent study. Assessment includes written assignments and presentations, with compulsory modules covering areas such as cognitive, social, and biological psychology, along with research methods and statistics.

Entry Requirements for Bangladeshi Students

Candidates are to submit a statement where they discuss their reasons for applying for the course, an academic and/or employer reference and CVs along with their applications.

Grade Requirements:

Candidates need a 2.2 degree or above, or an equivalent qualification. Relevant work experience will be considered if the candidate does not meet the academic criteria.

English Proficiency:

Candidates need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in other sections. Other English language test scores, such as PTE and TOEFL IBT, are accepted, amongst others. Students who do not meet this requirement can take a Pre-sessional English course at the University.
