BSc Honours Criminology and Psychology

Course Overview

The BSc (Honours) Criminology and Psychology is a three–to four-year undergraduate course that teaches students the techniques to apply when investigating crime as well as the study of human behaviour. In this course, students will learn methods to detect crime, apprehend criminals, and gather information from them. It is a course for curious students who have an eye for detail and can observe patterns from crime scenes.

In this degree, students will be introduced to modules like policing, probation, prison practice, gendered violence, and forensic psychology. These modules build their observatory and critical thinking skills. They will be able to think outside the box and work with armed officials to get accurate information from crime scenes. Students will also learn about psychology's role in understanding body language, mannerisms, and the workings of the human mind. These modules are important for students in this course because they sharpen their reasoning and help them to handle crime-related tasks and read people easily.

Learning in this course is through lectures, seminars, group discussions, independent study, conferences, practicals, and brainstorming sessions. Assessment methods include quizzes, presentations, examinations, and a final-year project. Graduates of this course can work in mental health, social research, and academia, just as past graduates have worked for the Ministry of Justice and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
