MSc Information Technology
Course overview
This Master's programme is for individuals seeking to obtain a qualification in IT, either to recognise their current experience formally or to help those with a degree in a non-IT subject transition into a career in software development. The course teaches the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required in the IT sector, concentrating on areas such as software development, database systems, and web programming. Students use up-to-date equipment in the university's quality facilities.
The teaching involves a blend of lectures, small group discussions (tutorials), and hands-on lab sessions, all backed up by an online platform. Students' grades are based on continuous assessment, including written exams, reports, practical tests, and a final, long research paper (dissertation). The full-time programme usually lasts 12 to 16 months, but this time will be longer if students choose to do a professional work placement.
Entry requirements
Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their previous studies.
