BA Sociology
Course overview
Studying BA Sociology at Nottingham Trent University will allow students to engage in the most pressing current social issues of our time, from gender equality to race and ethnicity, environmental sociology to media, popular and digital cultures. Students will develop the knowledge and skills to tackle some of today’s most challenging problems and stand out as actively engaged citizens to be ready to make a real difference to society, whether that’s working in the public, private, or third sector.
Society is rapidly changing, and the world is multicultural and dynamic, which is becoming increasingly complex, bringing about challenges and problems that sociologists seek to tackle. At NTU, the role is to deliver students as sociology graduates ready for the real world, well-prepared to address these changes.
The department believes that the study of sociology should not be confined to the university classroom but that there should be the chance to apply that knowledge to do public good, benefiting communities and wider society. Taking advantage of the teaching team’s connections with individuals and organisations in the local and international community to learn from active researchers.
