BA Film TV and Philosophy

Nottingham Trent University

Course overview

This three-year full-time course programme, a joint honours BA (Hons) in Film & TV and Philosophy, offers a unique opportunity to explore the relationship between film, television and philosophical inquiry. This programme is designed for students seeking a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical frameworks underpinning both disciplines and how they intersect to shape our understanding of the world.

Through an engaging selection of modules, students will encounter the most prominent concepts in philosophy, from ethical frameworks to theories of knowledge, and examine the ways in which film and television reflect, shape, and challenge societal norms and values.

The course provides a platform for students to hone their analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as their creative and interpretative abilities. They will learn to analyse and evaluate film and television texts, employing theoretical frameworks and scholarly methodologies to gain a deep understanding of how meaning is created and communicated on the big and small screen.
