BSc Football Coaching and Performance

The Football Coaching and Performance BSc at Middlesex University prepares students for careers in football coaching, player performance, talent identification, and sports science. The course blends practical coaching, theory, and work-based learning in partnership with Watford FC.

Students can gain professional qualifications at no extra cost, including the FA Introduction to Coaching Football, the UEFA C Licence, and the FA National Talent ID & Scouting Award.

The programme emphasises the physical, mental, and emotional development of players alongside coaching theory, performance analysis, and player welfare. Facilities include Middlesex University’s and Watford FC’s grounds, plus access to networks of industry professionals.

In Year 1, modules cover academic skills, fundamentals of coaching, sport science, and player welfare. Later years introduce sport analytics and psychology, applied coaching, human performance, and a final dissertation.

Learning takes place through lectures, workshops, labs, practical coaching sessions, and work placements. Students benefit from guest speakers, case studies, and networking opportunities.
