BSc Biological Sciences

The Biological Sciences course gives students a foundation in the principles of biology and develops practical skills through laboratory and problem-based learning. Students will use industry-standard facilities and technology, with guidance from research-active academics. The course has a strong focus on hands-on research and offers the option to specialise in either molecular or environmental biology.

Modules are assessed through through coursework, written and practical exams. The course also offers opportunities for field trips and the chance to join research teams through volunteering schemes. These activities allow students to enhance their learning and gain real-world experience, preparing them for a wide range of life sciences careers.

Middlesex University is a public research university in north London, England, with some campuses in Dubai and Mauritius. Founded in 1878, it has a long-standing reputation for providing education that focuses on careers. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fields like health and education, business and law, science and technology, and the arts.

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants need 112–128 UCAS points, which can be obtained through various qualifications. This includes BBC-BBB from A Levels, which must include a grade C or above in Biology and another science subject.
• A BTEC National Extended Diploma in a relevant subject is also accepted at DMM-DDM. Applicants will also need a minimum of a grade 4 in both GCSE Maths and English.

English Proficiency:

• Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score at least 6.0 overall in IELTS, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section, or submit equivalent test scores from an approved test such as PTE Academic with a score of 59 in all components.

For international students, the annual tuition fee for this programme is £16,600 per year.

There are several scholarships available for international students at Middlesex University. The Regional or International Merit Award offers a tuition fee reduction of up to £2,000 for the first year. For students from certain countries, the GREAT Scholarships are worth £21,800. The university also offers a variety of other awards and bursaries for which undergraduate students may be eligible.
