BEng Chemical Engineering

The BEng Chemical Engineering at London South Bank University is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to transform raw materials into valuable products, create durable materials and develop the technology and expertise for a sustainable future. The course provides students with a sound understanding of chemical engineering principles to enable them to progress to professional Chartered Engineer status.

The programme is accredited by the Institute of Chemical Engineers (ICE), and offers hands-on learning experience. It includes computer simulation, laboratory practice, industrial days and guest lecturers by skilled professionals. Students also have the opportunity to work in industry on a placement for a year. It is this environment that enables graduates to be well-equipped to work in industries including energy, water, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

London South Bank University (LSBU) is a public university in central London, close to the River Thames. It was first opened in 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic Institute. In 1992, it became a university and was given its current name.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants are expected to have 120 UCAS tariff points obtained through A-Level (or equivalent qualifications), including GCSEs at grade 4/C or above in relevant subjects such as mathematics and physical sciences.

English Proficiency:

• If English is not the first language you speak, you need to get a score of 6.0 overall in the IELTS test. You must score at least 5.5 in each part of the test.
• The university also accepts similar scores from other English language tests like PTE or TOEFL.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the tuition fee to study the BEng Chemical Engineering at London South Bank University is £16,500. This fee is provisional and subject to change.
